Walter Zoo

Earlier this summer we went with some friends to the zoo just west of St. Gallen. The zoo was just perfect and so much closer than the zoo we usually visit. It was small enough for Logan to walk the whole thing without being exhausted. It had the usual suspects that European zoos have but they also had two buildings full of reptiles.

There was a tiger show when we first arrived. One guy in a ring with three enormous tigers. CRAZY! They did a few tricks. Their trainer said their treats were rindfleisch (lean beef), sounds like a very expensive treat to me. Maybe they buy it in Austria :)

The chimpanzees were wild. Logan liked the "seeping" monkey in the picture on the right.

Feeding the goats. We tried going in the gate to feed them but they wouldn't stop jumping on us to get the popcorn. One knocked Lukas down and another grabbed my whole popcorn bag.

Camels.

Logan and Shannon trying to get in with the camels.

Flamingos.

Lukas and Logan in the maze. Lukas found the exit.

The zebras were crazy about popcorn too. This guy also grabbed the whole bag of popcorn out of my girlfriends arm. He ate all the popcorn and the bag. Their keeper told us that they don't eat the popcorn...oops.

This little raccoon was too cute. He put on a show for anyone whom would give him a bite of popcorn.

Who puts a skunk in a zoo? This was a first for me. Can you take out their stinker?

Lukas enjoyed the super long fast slide. Logan flew down it, one time was enough.

Chasing the peacock.

There was also a small park.

Lukas was so excited for this very moment- ice cream and alligators!

One last monkey.
